An eSIM is a software-based SIM built into supported mobile devices. It allows you to activate a cellular data plan digitally without inserting a physical SIM card.
How do eSIMs work?+
Your compatible device stores the eSIM profile digitally. Once activated, it can connect to supported mobile networks in your destination.
What is the difference between eSIM and a regular SIM?+
A regular SIM is a removable physical chip. An eSIM is activated digitally, usually with a QR code or activation details.
Which devices support eSIM?+
Many modern iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel and other devices support eSIM. Your device must also be network unlocked. Check your device settings or manufacturer specifications before purchasing.
How secure is eSIM?+
eSIM technology uses cellular-network encryption and authentication standards. Because there is no removable card, the profile also cannot simply be physically taken from your phone.
Do I get a mobile number?+
Globe-Mobi travel eSIMs are data-only and do not provide a conventional mobile number for calls or SMS. Internet-based apps such as WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage, Zoom and Skype can use the data connection.
Can I keep my normal SIM installed?+
Yes. On compatible dual-SIM devices, you can leave your primary SIM installed and use the Globe-Mobi eSIM for travel data.
When should I install my eSIM?+
It is usually easiest to install your eSIM while you still have a stable internet connection before travelling, then use the travel line according to the activation instructions for your plan.
